For most European Union countries, import requirements are the same. However, each pet move should be evaluated first to establish the
path to follow when obtaining the import requirements.
For the European Union, Panama is not considered a rabies free country, therefore, more complex requirements apply to pets originally from
Panama that will be traveling to Europe. There are other cases in which pets, originally from Europe, living in Panama are going back to Europe.
In these cases, procedures are different.
Assuming that a pet is originally from Panama (or from another country not considered rabies free)
the time schedule is as follows:
Step 1
Microchip
|
Step 2
Rabies shot anytime after microchip
|
Step 3
Wait 30 days
|
Step 4
Blood sample is drawn
|
Step 5
Blood sample is sent to an authorized lab for analysis
|
Step 6
Wait three (3) months
|
Step 7
Pet can travel to Europe if complying with all the required documents
